My pictures explore moments of intimacy and vulnerability between my husband and adolescent sons that arise out of a sensory engagement with the world, whether it's the play of light and color or the feel of human touch. In this psychic space of awakening, everyday moments become turning points, and I glimpse the beauty and inherent mystery of a boy's experience. Inspired by art history, psychology and classical myth, I situate their stories in an alternate frame in which I can simultaneously bear witness to the human need for intimacy and connection and offer a more complicated vision of masculinity and the world of men.
