Honorable Mention
NOLA Oddasey
DESCRIPTION
A group of New Orleans natives gave me a floor to crash on. Weekend after weekend I'd fly down to their city, capturing a musical movement they helmed. All the while taking in the real NOLA culture as they saw fit. Each trip a new neighborhood, new experience, different level of access. Sometimes joyous, occasionally scary, always a wild, humid ride. Oddasey was the youngest of the group, born on the toughest streets and always hustling as stability was never something he'd experienced. Living on the couch and often waking me up for Uber money, Oddasey was always down for a trek, always ready for the camera and still hitting me up for life advice and when I'll have the project ready for him to show his friends. The camera is nothing more than permission to explore. Let it eat fear and inspire energy. Began taking photos to document life. Then found zen in capturing the beauty of the moment. Now continuing to learn and appreciate how to craft an image with an underlying love for finding a single moment that tells a greater story.
