Honorable Mention
Saharan Sprint
DESCRIPTION
I took this during a trip to the Sahara Desert. I was on a camel, as the sand was too fine for the giant dunes to be crossed on foot - or so I thought. While I was struggling to balance myself between the camel's humps, I noticed my guide sprinting across the dunes next to me, helping the other tourists take pictures of them on their camels. The lightness of his feet, as well as the colour of his tadjellabit (a traditional North African robe), were what drew me to him as a subject. The sun had just begun to set, lighting the dunes ablaze with a perfect Golden Hour orange. This contrasted perfectly against the blues of his robe. Even though my shutter speed was at 1/500th of a second, this was not enough to completely freeze him in time. However, the slight motion blur did add an element of speed in his pace.
