The Cannibal Hunter
ANDREA PERUZZI, Italy
The Cannibal Hunter
DESCRIPTION
Returning from hunting in the jungle, the village chief Korowai, brandishing a bow and arrows, waits for his wife at the bottom of a tree trunk used a few moments before as a bridge to cross the river that flows not far from the village. His eyes are proud and he is ready to show me his hunting trophies.
The Korowai are one of the last known cannibal tribes in the world and they were discovered around 1974. They live in isolation in a remote area of Indonesian Papua, on the border with Papua New Guinea.
