DESCRIPTION
My photo aim to dig the loneliness and difficulties of being in a relationship, mostly when the relationship is essentially at an endpoint. I investigate the dynamic of relationship from the woman point of view, through a deep paradoxical combination of objects, colors and settings, with the function of recalling, like a dream, the happiest days spent together. While the man is represented as distant and unconcerned, the woman suffers in silence in front of this failure: the hardest part for her is admitting that their love is over. The burden she bears, like a suitcase full of happy memories, prevents her to leave. She stays, hidden by a surface of normality, where everything appears vital, full of life, energy and joy. This is the portrayal of her emotion, an escape from the truth: her love and passion are dead. The approach I opted for MIND POP is clearly POP Culture inspired for the vivid colors of dressing and the choice of objects such as wigs and fashion jewelry are clearly in contradiction with subject state of mind, listless and melancholy in front of the end of love.
AUTHOR
Nicoletta Cerasomma is a photographer and pop surrealist artist with a background in staged photography. After studying photography since 1997, she realized her love for storytelling so, in the latest years, she had evolved from fashion photographer to independent artist focused on production of nuanced photographic tableaux. Her work is highly conceptual and complex: as surrealist artist, she incorporates archetypes and cultural iconography with satirical narratives inspired by the collective unconscious. Leaning into the visual language of pop surrealism, she stages narrative compositions that expose the underbelly of modern life.
Nicoletta is inspired by the dichotomy Beauty and Decay, themes that she loves to incorporate into her works in order to evoke contemplation and debate on human condition, through a vivid and provocative still imagery and a cinematic technique.
Her images come from personal place of exploration where she dreams to live a thousand lives in one.
She is most known for her series "Cryptic Venus", created in 2020, which depicts women placed in suggestive scenarios.
Nicoletta was awarded the Sony world photography organization, the Pollux Awards and many other grants in 2020. Her work was exhibited in Paris, Moscow, Budapest, Barcelona and continues to show in international galleries. She is currently working on new dyptich projects.
