Wooden Souls I
DESCRIPTION
"Wooden Souls" is my continuous personal project, a series of photographs honoring old trees as silent witnesses of our lives.Every day in parks, in cities or countryside we are passing in rush remarkable trees without noticing. I admire how trees watch the passing of time with patience. It is an example of the power of slow growth. They are mystic, especially ancient trees which are sometimes hundreds or even thousands of years old. I believe trees are more than just plants. That they communicate and react to the world around them. Not in an obvious way but somehow secretly hidden from our eyes. And I imagine that maybe they have even souls. In my work, I try to picture them as living beings with souls.
And when nobody is watching, they come alive after the sunset letting their souls shine.
This collection was photographed in the Czech Republic during road trips to find remarkable trees all around my country. I used a converted infrared camera Nikon D800 and for illumination of "Wooden Souls" from inside, I used different small lights.
All photos were made at a specific time window after sunset.
